In most cases, one of these two causes explains it:

  1. Check your Junk/Spam folder first.
  2. Confirm the sender used the correct address ending: @northmail.ca (not @northmail.com).

If both are correct and messages are still missing, contact support with one example sender and approximate send time.

  1. Make sure there is no typo in your email address (for example northmail.com instead of northmail.ca).
  2. If the address is correct, reset your password from Forgot password.

To reduce spam and abusive signups, account creation is blocked from IPs detected as VPN, proxy, Tor, or datacenter networks.

This can also happen when privacy features hide your IP (for example: iCloud Private Relay on iPhone, or a VPN app).

  1. Temporarily disable VPN / proxy / Private Relay.
  2. Try again from your home Wi-Fi or mobile data.
  3. If needed, use another device/network to complete signup.

After your account is created, you can usually re-enable your VPN/privacy tools.

  1. Log in and open the Settings page.
  2. Select Authenticator App from the Method drop-down.
  3. Scan the QR code with your preferred authenticator app.
  4. Enter the code shown in the app and click Save.

If you use an IMAP mail app like Apple Mail or Gmail, create an application password on the same page so it continues to work after 2FA is enabled.

These connection settings are available only for ad-free accounts and let you use NorthMail with your favorite email client.

  • IMAP (incoming): mail.northmail.ca — Port 993 — SSL
  • SMTP (outgoing): mail.northmail.ca — Port 465 — SSL

Use your full NorthMail email address as the username.

Ad-Free members can create up to two @northmail.ca aliases that point to the same mailbox.

  1. Log in to your account.
  2. Open Settings from the top menu.
  3. Scroll to the Aliases section.
  4. Enter the alias name you want before @northmail.ca.
  5. Click Add alias.

You can also delete an existing alias from the same section at any time.

This manual method is the most reliable for mailbox-to-mailbox migration. It requires IMAP access (ad-free account).

  1. Add both mailboxes in Thunderbird or Outlook using IMAP (not POP), then wait for full sync.
  2. Create destination folders if needed.
  3. Select messages (or a folder) in the source mailbox.
  4. Use Copy To or Move To (or drag-and-drop) to the destination mailbox.
  5. Keep the app open until upload/sync is fully complete.
  6. Verify in webmail, then delete old messages only after confirmation.

Tip: For large migrations, move emails in batches (for example 500-1000 at a time) to avoid client timeouts.
